Chapter 2
Sam muttered as she created dossiers on the residents of Bakersfield Estate. Her auburn head nodding at some things and shaking at others. Her green eyes fixed on the screen as she learned all she could about Bakersfield Estate and its occupants.
This is what she lived for, digging up the background and putting the puzzle pieces together. Somewhere in what she was finding would be the key to whomever it was plotting against them.
Who were the heirs? What would the motive be? Love/hate? Money? Something totally different?
Her phone rang and she answered it without looking to see who it was.
“Hey, Sam,” she heard her father’s voice on the other end.
    “What’s up, Chief?” she asked.
“Fingerprints came back,” he answered. “Your perp was wearing gloves. We got smudged prints showing the wrinkle in the glove. Of course, yours were there.”
“Anything on the paper or ink?”
“Ordinary printer paper, you can buy from any office supply store,” he answered. “The ink, however came from one of those gel pens. Black, nothing to make it stand out. Postmark was here in town, so it’s most likely a local. No DNA on the envelope. It was one of those press and seal envelopes.”
“Thanks, Dad,” she told him. “Maybe it is just some joker. I’m going to keep digging into the residents of Bakersfield Estate, maybe someone has a beef with them.”
“Sounds good,” the chief answered. “You want this letter back or do you want me to hold onto it?”
“I’ll get it from you later,” she replied. “Thanks again. Love you, Dad.” She hung up the phone.
She’d been printing out everything she could on the Bakersfield Estate residents and their history. Tonight, she’d start putting together the dossiers and see what she came up with.

Chapter 1
When the first letter arrived in her office Sam Worth thought it was a joke. Still she called the chief of police and asked him to come by. It didn’t take long before he showed up.
“What have you got for me, Sam?” he asked coming through the door.
“I got a weird letter today,” she replied. “I don’t know if it’s a joke or if I should take it seriously?” She pulled a sheet of paper out of her desk.
The chief could see it was already encased in plastic. “Did you dust for finger prints?”
“No, Dad. I slipped it into this after I read it,” she answered. “Figured we have my prints on file so, any others will be our suspect. I have the envelope in a separate piece of plastic, although it will have the postman’s finger prints on it, too.”
“Let’s have a look.” He reached for the letter to read it. “Who does this joker think he is?”
“Got me,” Sam replied. “Says he’s been stumping you for years. What kind of open cases do you have?”
“Around here? You’ve got to be kidding. Worst case we get is hauling in some drunk to sleep it off,” he answered. “Wait, there was a hit and run two years ago. Just a broken leg, but we never did find who did it. Do you think?”
“Couldn’t hurt to pull the file and look at it again,” she suggested with a shrug.
“I’m going to take this and get as much information as we can from it,” he told her.
“Meantime, I’m going to check out everyone connected to the Bakersfield Estate,” Sam said.          “I don’t know much about them, except they have the mansion on Pine Ridge overlooking the river.”
“Nice couple,” Dad replied. “I think their kids are grown and moved away. Come every year for Thanksgiving and stay through Christmas with the grandkids. There’s a gardener, a cook, and possibly a maid.”
“I’ll let you know what I find,” she told him.
He left and Sam sat at her computer. She was an expert at data gathering. If anything suspicious was to be found, she would find it.

Hello all My Readers

I had this big plan for 2019 to send a monthly mystery box to those who signed up for it. My publisher tells me this is not a good idea. So, I have come up with another plan.

I'm going to serialize the book. I will create a Facebook page so you can discuss it with other readers and get all the supplemental pages which will be needed to solve the case. Those participating for the entire 12 weeks will get prizes. I'm keeping them to myself at the moment.

However, if you are interested, I need you to comment on this post, so I can include you in the Facebook page. It will be a private page for those who are following along.

This blog will be the only place you can find Murder or Not? It features Samantha Worth, private investigator. Her father Chief Worth the local police chief. Helen Worth, Samantha's mom who has Alzheimer's and Anna Wilkins former police officer and tech wiz. There is a threat to someone at the Bakersfield Estate. The person has not been specified. With the Bakersfield family due to arrive for Thanksgiving and staying through New Year's everyone is a potential victim. Watch for the plot turns.

Are you up for solving a mystery? I promise to give you the clues. But, you will not have the answer until the last chapter. Are you up to the task? Can you figure it out?
Are you ready to look into the box?
